The fourth of July is fast approaching and the internet is flooded with fun dessert ideas. I, personally, am a lover of cookies. Don't get me wrong, I also love cake, pies, and other assorted pastries too. But cookies are a handheld treat that are typically quick to make and the recipes usually make fairly large quantities that are perfect for a crowd, or just a cookout with friends. These Firecracker Cookies are bright and great for making ahead.

Easy Red Velvet & Blueberry Trifles
When it comes to cookouts people usually want easy desserts. Trifles, cakes, cupcakes, and cookies are usually what I see people bring (and what I usually bring). They work so well with the burgers or barbeque sandwiches and potato salad. The one problem I usually have is coloring foods red for the holiday. To much food coloring and the dessert may start to taste funny, but you also don't always need lots of cake, just a half batch will do. I've kept the recipe quick, easy, and frustration free while still providing the burst of color that is necessary for 4th of July cookout desserts.

Cherry Cheesecake Braid
I have always loved breakfast treats, there are always so many types to choose from. Danish, muffins, coffee cakes, doughnuts, cinnamon rolls, biscuits, popovers, scones...It's the details that really make the difference (in my opinion of course). A fresh picked fruit, compound butter made with sweet orange zest, a sugar topping, or a creamy glaze would all add to a basic breakfast treat to make it amazing and memorable.

Inside Out Cinnamon Rolls
I love mixing up the idea of what a recipe should be, such as these Inside Out Cinnamon Rolls. They're have a cinnamon cream cheese filling and are topped with a brown sugar mixture. Hot out of the oven they're soft on the inside and crunchy on the top! I'm pretty sure I love these and they will stay in my breakfast bread rotation. The recipe only makes 8 so you won't be inundated with an entire pan of rolls so that you feel like you need to eat them all. Of course if you want to eat them all, then by all means, go for it :).

Wheat Sandwich Bread
Bread is something that most people love but don't try to make at home. I remember in high school I would make bread because I loved the fresh flavor of a warm, just out of the oven loaf of bread. I used to make a cinnamon raisin swirl bread for a long time that was delicious with a glaze on the top. I don't think I could pick a favorite bread if I tried. I love pretty much all of them, except rye, I just can't do it.

Secret Recipe Club Reveal! Orange Creamsicle Scones
I love orange flavored anything for the most part, yet I don't eat it often. I'm not sure why. I used to love orange chicken way back when, and I'm still a huge fan of orange cake, curd, or sauce. I made an orange pancake sauce one time that was pretty awesome. When I ran across a recipe for these orange creamsicle scones I knew they were a must try. Orange is delicious but anything with "creamsicle" has to be made, and soon.
